Mac Icons

first off, sorry if this is in the wrong place. move it if you need to....

anyways i have seen people change their docs and icons and i wanted to do it also. i downloaded two programs that are supposed to help (candybar and liteicon) but when i try to download icons from websites like interfacelift i don't know how to open them or install them.
so my questions is how do i do it? and where do you get your icons from?

could someone write a step by step? thanks

u can download icons from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/index8.html this url.... but i too want to know how to install these icons on mac....
