Mac internet explorer security issues?

I'm new to macs and will be using an emac g4. A website I need to use for work is only compatible with internet explorer. I know it is no longer supported by Microsoft, just curious if the mac version had as many security issues as the windows?

As many as Windows? Probably not, but it's a still a bug-ridden, gaping security-hole pile of poo. There's a reason it was last updated six years ago and Microsoft gave up on it.

Try turning on Safari's Debug menu and using the "User Agent" setting to spoof its identity as MSIE 6.0.

I use Firefox but I wanted to try this for fun. I followed the hint on the page and entered " % defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1 " in terminal, no quotation marks, but always got back the message " -bash: fg: %: no such job " . I noticed this was an old hint. Does this work in 10.4.9 or did I make a mistake?

Well I should have played around before I posted, took out the % and all worked fine.

Don't type the "%"...that's the prompt. They should have made that clear in the hint.

You can also use one of many maintenance apps like TinkerTool or OnyX to turn the option on.
