mac is so slow

I have a brand new mbp, 4 months old and it is a lot slower than my 2001 g4. I can't seem to find any reason for this. My hdd is 90% full and I have 2 gigs of ram which should be enough to do everyday tasks. I am running 10.5 and soon 10.6. I don't know if there is an app that will speed it up or what.

Take a look at Activity Monitor so you can see if there's something eating your CPU or RAM. I recommend you to do clean install of 10.6

Clean install = ERASE and install

Get a Time Machine backup going and you can restore certain items from that. I agree though, it's best to start fresh.
