Mac Mail badges for mailboxes

Upgraded to Big Sur and in the Mac Mail app I can't figure put how to have it display the number of messages in individual mail boxes like its does below...

My mail doesn't sow the number of items in each mail box...any help? I've looked for a setting but can't seem to find the right one!

If you control click on any mailbox / folder a pop-up menu will appear. Scroll to the bottom to "Get Account Info" and it will list each folder / box with the number of messages and size.
I can't see any way to get that permanently on the screen though.....

I dunno either but somehow people are getting it to display badges next to the actual mailboxes…I can not figure out how.

Mail will only show the number of UNREAD messages in mailboxes.

As your screenshot demonstrates you can also actually see the total number of messages in each mailbox when you're viewing it.
