Mac Mail doesn't show the emails, and the windows cannot be closed too.

Hi, i used my mec mail for about 3 years. everything was fine but not more since yesterday:-(
- when i open the mail app, the process starts for "checking emails", but endless. when i try to quite the process (close the mail app), it doesn't work.
Please help me! Thanks!

try Mail in another account and see if it works there.

the problem is exact as "apple support" said:
Symptoms
Mail may open but show no message viewer window, and you may not be able to quit Mail. The Quit menu choice in the Mail menu may be dimmed ("grayed out"). This can happen in Mac OS X v10.5 through 10.5.6.
But the solution they gave:
Resolution
Download and install the Mac OS X v10.5.7 Update or later to resolve this issue.
IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

I must leave now, some one else will help you and likely suggest you to delete the Mail preference file in your account.

OS Leopard, Snow Leopard :
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks :
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

On Lion :

1. Quit Mail.
2. go to the preference file
3. trash it, do not empty the trash
4. launch Mail

If not solved, go to the trash, right-click the file, "put back".
