    Hey there,

Something very strange is happening with my Mac Mail application and I can't seem to figure it out. This is what's happening.

When I open Mail I notice that the subjects of some of the more recent emails have disappeared or have been renamed the same as another email. Also, the last few days when Mail is open it really slows down my whole system. I am getting the rotating rainbow wheel a lot. When I try to quit mail (Command "Q") it will close the window but it is still running (as indicated by the dot under the icon in the dock) and I end up having to Force Quit the application to get it to quit.

Has anyone experienced any of these things? Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks.

You can try rebuilding the mailbox. This is only effective with IMAP accounts to my understanding. Please provide more information regarding what version of the Mac OS you are running, the names of any Mail plug-ins you may have installed on the computer that are potential causes of the issue at hand.

    Hi there,

I am running Mac OSX 10.5.7 and the Mail app. is version 3.6. I am also running all my email through Gmail, if that makes a difference.

It seems to be getting worse. Now when a new email arrives in my inbox, it takes the subject heading of that email and renames a bunch of the emails below it with the same subject heading.

This is really starting to freak me out.
