I don't think Mail is broken, as been said before it's because your using font not installed on the target machine; also Outlook etc use Internet Explorer's rendering engine (Trident) so CSS etc is broken.

Safest way to do it (for any software) is to design your flyer in a DTP programme, save it as a image (png, jpg etc) then just embed that in your e-mai, no need for it to me rendered by the end user.

My biggest beef is that it CONSTANTLY (and I mean every time I use it now) has trouble connecting to at least one mail account and will request that I put in the password over and over but never connect. It's really obnoxious. If anyone has a fix, I'd be overjoyed because I think the mail app is otherwise awesome for my uses.

OK,

For just doing email with your buddies..... its fine

But, I am a musician and I do a monthly mailer about gigs and mail is atrocious!!!!!!! Go ahead, format your mail and add some hyperlinks. I guarantee the fonts it sends are not what you see (especially true for windows users)...... Now go ahead copy paste some text from webpages etc... now all hell breaks loose, formatting won't stay put, simply doing backspaces ends up with text jumping over text, windows users will receive a jumble of fonts in varying sizes and you can't even change the hyperlinks to be the same color.....

Horrible, awful, almost unusable, I feel like ripping my hair out every month. Thunderbird almost works right but when you add contacts it doesn't go the Mac address book, same with Outlook, Postbox almost works but all the format errors are still there.......

And best of all...... you get no visual clue it is happening.......

So ........ Mac Mail........ Years behind Outlook and ready to make YOU look like a 3rd grader!

Rant over --- flame suit on ---- long live the empire!

Snap....I ditched it long ago for Thunderbird...Not perfect, but a damn site better than Apple's offering. Mind you, we are promised a complete re-vamp in ML are we not?

The best recommendation anyone has made is to create your newsletter how you want and publish it to PDF. Email that file.

This. Remember that a lot of Windows users are still using Outlook Express, many will be using webmail, and trendy users will be viewing your emails on mobile devices of all sorts. The basic rule is never to use any form of formatting on email at all. A huge number of people turn off all formatting anyway within their mail program, or have it automatically stripped.

PDF's were invented for precisely this reason. They allow you to produce an electronic page which is fixed and guaranteed to look the same to the recipient as it does to you. Use it for what it's intended for. Also, those receiving your emails on an expensive mobile device will appreciate that they don't have to download your mailing until they get back to a fixed line.
