Mac Mail keeps crashing on startup!

Hi All,

Since last night, my Mac Mail won't load up! When I click on the icon, it'll show for 30 seconds or so and then crash. I've tried the usual restarting etc, but to no avail.
Is there a way of fixing it at all? Just seems strange that it randomly started crashing.

Have you installed any new software, plugins, anything?

Have you installed Safari 4 Beta at all. This will cause the Mail app to crash if you are using Growlmail. If this is the case you will need to disable growlmail.

Yes, I have Safari Beta installed, and also have Growl Mail - I'll switch back ot the old Safari and will let you know if it works!

You do not have to uninstall safari 4, you can do this instead :

Junk Mail filter could be corrupted.

i googled because i had the same problem and came across this thread. chas, your response has helped me and now i can read my email again. thanks!
