Hi,

My first post here, and a new mac owner (about a month and a half) and no turning back.

I have a bunch of email accounts and I use Gmail as my main clearing house, either forwarding all accounts to Gmail or having Gmail retrieve the POP mail.

Previously, I used Thunderbird as my main desktop mail client, but I'm thinking about switching to Apple Mail, since I like how it handles Imap better than Thunderbird.

Here's my question: Is there a way in Mac Mail to set up multiple send mail profiles? IE., I retrieve all mail from Gmail via IMAP, but depending on the address I want to send out various different SMTPs with different "from" emails. (I don't like how Gmail handles this with simply using the "reply-to" and keeping the From as the gmail account).

Hope this makes sense.... thanks in advance for any help :)

First of all, welcome! Short answer, yes it's possible to choose what email acct you want to send from. Long answer...well, read on:

I have two seperate gmail accounts set up as IMAP in the Mail program. So when i send an email, i can dictate where I want it coming from. It's not exactly like your issue, where you have everything forwarded to your gmail and you want to be able to select what email address to reply with.

I used this website to help me configure it.

It doesn't answer your questions completely but hopefully this will point you in the right direction!
