Mac Mail Password Not Accepted!

My mac mail on my 10.4 MacBook has stopped accepting the password. I have my work and gmail forwarded here. I am positive the password is correct and even tried my master password but that did not work. Yesterday I repaired my disk permissions with disk utility but the mail program still worked into the night. Any ideas?
 
For some servers, if your in box is at its capacity it will reject your password. Can you ask your IT people if you've exceeded your quota?
