Can someone help me figure out where my MAIL settings have gone wrong? I have 2 MAC's in my office....both use MAC's use the MAIL app. Workstation 2 is working fine. However, Workstation 1 is having issues.

I just sent 2 e-mails to myself and WS 2 received them fine, but WS 1 labored to send it and launched an "error message" see screen shot #8. I think one of my settings in ACCOUNTS or Preferances have been altered. Since I have been having issues with this I duplicated my setting on WS2 to see if I could eleviate this. Can someone look at my screen shots below and see if something looks wrong?

OS 10.11.6
ISP..... Comcast/Xfinity

Thank you for your time!

I just tried deleting my OLD Mail account to try to create a NEW Mail account and it said that "This account already exists".....and it would not let me sign in to Comcast with my current password. All options were grayed out except "Cancel. See attached. Now, the only account I have is iCloud. I just wanted to add a fresh new mail account.

Why will it not let me create a new Mail Account with my old information?

I need to get in with a new Mail Account to make other adjustments in my setting as origionally stated in my 1st posting.

Let me know.

Did you go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES/Accounts and delete the accounts there? Try doing that first, then re-entering your Mail Account in the Mail app.

I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try.

No this didn't work. I deleted all Comcast info quit out of Mail and restarted the computer. Then tried to re-enter the Comcast info in Internet Accounts (System Preferences) ... same message... "This account already exists" an no option but to cancel out of it. See the 2 screen shots below....

Time Machine BU:
Here is a thought... All of my changes have happened in the last couple of days. What about going back till Wednesday (when everything was working) and using my TIME MACHINE back up to reinstall the preferences/ settings files for the INTERNET ACCOUNT and MAIL and get this back to where I was on Wednesday?

See screen shot below....

Questions:

1. What files in the Library or System would I need to reinstall to get my information back in both the INTERNET ACCOUNTS and MAIL preferences?
2. System Preferences...... Internet Accounts
3. Comcast MAIL ACCOUNT
5. Should be a Comcast IMAP or SMTP Outgoing Server
7. How do you know what PORT to fill in here?

My frustration here is that Comcast/Xfinity will NOT give Technical Support to 3rd party Mail Clients (MAC MAIL) Only their MAIL client.! So I'm kinda hosed up here on this work station using MAIL.

Any thought where those preferences/settings would be? If I knew what files to pull from my Time Machine Back Up maybe I could reinstall them and get back to where I was the last Wednesday... then go on from there.

I appreciate you help!

as per your original post "Workstation 2 is working fine" ?

Have you tried deleting the account on Workstation 1 - then "logging out of iCloud" to disconnect from iCloud - then restart again fresh to "sign into iCloud to add the new account?

My impression is that the issue is only with Workstation 1 ?
