Mac Mail - Small Attachments??

When I save a screen shot and email it...it comes out on the other end as a small image (thumbnail?). There has got to be something I'm missing in the setup or preferences...but why aren't my attachments full size?

Note: At first I had the problem of my screenshots being saved as a png file but I changed that to a jpg with a Terminal command.

.png files should be able to being opened on any Mac or Windows computer.

You can also use Preview to save a .png as .jpg.

Has the receiver of the email an attachment that is as big as the file you sent? Can the receiver click on the thumbnail to open the image?

Even if you're sending compatible formats, how images and attachments appear to the recipient is completely dependent on the recipient's mail client and settings. You have little or no control over that.

I've sent them to a friend and to myself and there small images? When I view the image I saved to the desktop it opens fine?

No...when you click on the attachment the images are small...like a thumbnail.

Thanks...Mail Help states:

Adjust the image size using the pop-up menu in the lower right of the window.

Where is the pop-up window to adjust image size? I have been selecting the image via the attachment button then I select my file. It is then pasted in the body of the text...but I don't understand where you adjust the image size?? Damn...

God...I finally found the Image size popup. Once you select the image...the pop-up is way down in the lower right on the email...

That's just a stupid way to do this!

2. Drag a picture from your Desktop or a Finder window and drop the picture in the body of your email.

Thank you...the arrow helps. I've had the mac for about 6 months now and I just now getting around to doing an image attachment. I just don't understand why the button is way down there...or why the default setting should be at "small".

I think it remembers the last setting you used. Mine always comes up Actual Size by default.

I've never used this button so "small" seems to be rthe setting by default. Crazy! I've spent two hours today trying to figure out why it was doing this?

Anyway...glad I got some help...and now I know! Time for a cold one!!!
