Mac Mail - what port to use?

I just started a new job and while I have two other email accounts that work just fine, this new one is causing me issues. When "at the office" on the company's secure wireless connection I can send/receive email just fine. When I am outside the office, anywhere, I can only receive this new account's email.

Grrr.

I am using:
Mac Mail 4.2
Mac OS 10.6.2

New Account Info:
IMAP
SSL - not checked (they do not use it)
Athentication - Password
Port - 143 (currently)

Any thoughts???

I vaguely remember problems like this when working at a big computer
company. The problems were usually caused by the company's firewall and
the VPN software, not Mail. Once I got home at night, any e-mail reading I
wanted to do (via Thunderbird) had to first go through the VPN connection.
But there weren't any port 143 issues that I remember. After a few years, I
was able to switch to Mail with no problems.

I assume you're bringing a MacBook of some sort to the office?

Can you try setting up an account with POP and see if it will work?
