Hi, i changed to Mac almost 6 months ago now and i love absolutly everything about the Mac apart from Mac Mail (i know their are other mail apps ou there)

When i click in the search field at the top of the Mail App it only seems to search 'People' and 'Subject' - what about the body of an email... does anyone know a way around this apart from changing to another Email App, thanks in advance...

Mine seems to search the body of the email. Are you sure it's not doing that for you?

100% sure... and it never did... because i remember that when i set my system up i needed to search for an email that was only about 2 weeks old and i couldn't find it..

Also:

Is the email account set up to download all messages or are you just getting the headers? Mail search doesn't search on the server, so you'd have to be downloading them for the Mac to search.

I don't have it downloading any files to the mac... i have it accessing the server direct... that's probably the answer then :(

I advise clients to download all mail and attachments, at least on one computer if they have more than one. The Mail app responds more quickly and the searches can be done. Also, downloading and doing Time Machine backups can save the day on mistakenly deleted emails (or complete folders!).
