You should be able to drag the messages directly from Mail to a folder on your desktop - and then burn the folder to a CD. Or drag them directly onto a usb drive.

Thanks. How do I create a folder on the desktop? Do I then highlight all the emails in the mailbox and drag them? Scared to lose them...?

I need to put about 50 emails from a mailbox onto a cd for a court case.

Here is how I would do it.

1. Right click on the Desktop and make a new folder called whatever you want... let's go with "mail".

2. Now go to Mail and select the messages you want to export.

3. Still in Mail click the File menu then Export as PDF... That will bring up a window where you can navigate to the Desktop/mail folder we made, then click save. This will export all 50 messages to individual PDF files in that mail folder.

4. Now burn to the CD following this.

This is better IMO because it puts the files in a PDF format that any computer Mac or Windows can read.
