I´m thinking of getting a used Mac Mini as a temporary download and management machine for my media collection.

At the moment I´m using unRAID on a Microserver N54L for all my media but since I prefer to use PlexConnect on my ATV3 I also use iFlicks to make all movies and TV shows ATV friendly before adding them to the server.

I´m now using my Macbook Pro for this but Id prefer to not use this as a constant work machine with nzb's and torrents running.

Would an old Mac Mini 1,83 Core 2 Duo be capable of running SABNzbd, uTorrent and iFlicks or would it be to weak perhaps? I dont intend to run Handbrake on it, only iFlicks for remuxing av videos.

Those older 2006 and 2007 Minis make great media server machines. They can do every thing you're asking. They can do Handbreak rips, but at about 15-20fps to h264. They can even handle some 1080p playback without a problem.
