Do you need the original ram to reinstall OSX (essentials.pkg error)?

I have 2 sets of base 2010 and they behave differently with the same firmware version @.@;

Get Mushkin 8gb x 2 ram that is 1067 for the 2010 Minis. Always works.

I upgraded my 2010 to 8GB with a pair of used sticks from Other World Computing. I don't know the actual brand, but System Information reports the manufacturer as "0x85F7" if that helps. They are the standard PC8500 DDR3 1067MHz SO-DIMMs. No problems to report so far...
