Mac mini (2010) HD S.M.A.R.T failing

Guys,

A few weeks ago my mac mini stared getting really laggy and slow, and used to freeze every couple minutes and then continue to function.

I ran a verification on the HD and gave me a msg saying SMART status failing...
and I tried formating it and installing Lion but couldn't...

What are my options?
if I have to change the hard drive, how do I know which one to choose?
