I've experience the same problem with a 37" Vizio. If you do a Google search you will see a ton of hits about issues with Vizio TVs and incapable cables. I read several articles where it was stated that Vizio cuts costs during the development of their TVs by not verifying compatibility of their connectors with all cables as most other manufactured do. That is one reason why Vizio TVs are cheaper than most others. I won't ever own a Vizio after doing my Google research.

I have my Mac Mini connected to my 37" Vizio and have experienced zero problems with that setup.
