Did you check Force Quit for any applications running?

I would say that you may want to backup your system and do a fresh install. I don't know a thing about the fusion drives and if that is causing it. Sorry

PRAM reset and SMC Reset before you reinstall :)

    I have the same problem.
    I've had this for months.

I've reset pram, smc and everything short of doing a reinstall.

I just don't put it to sleep but just switch it off instead.

I've tried PRAM and SMC reset without success. I dont want to reinstall the system for this kind of problem.

    Me neither.
That's why I just switch down instead.

Have you ever used a program like No Sleep or Caffeine in the past? as they can change the settings to stop the Mac from Sleeping. If it was my Mac I would be tempted to install one of them and enable it and then disable it and see if it fixes the problem :).
