    Hi' ?

I planning a switch from an old PC (Core2, Sapphire HD5450 GPU, 2GB) to the Mac Mini 2012 i7 2,3 (+ upgrade with RAM + SSD) to improve performance of Lightroom 4.

Intend to keep my Dell U2312Hm monitor (will use a HDMI-DVI cable) - but it will be replaced by an ASUS monitor with HDMI later this year.

But yesterday I read about issues on "HDMI issues with Mac Mini 2012),
    Eg. (

Some people reply that the display problem was solved with the update to OSX 10.8.3 and some people reply that is wasn't solved.

    So my question is:
Are there still problems with display connection on the Mac Mini 2012 (flicker, blackout, no sound.......) ??

The answer to this post might be somewhere on this site but I couldn't find it.

    I Wish I Knew

I was having some serious issues using HDMI on dual monitors. One side had a yellow tint while the other was crystal clear.
I spent a small fortune on different cables, hours on the phone to Apple Support and even had one of my monitors replaced twice.

Updated to 10.8.3 on Friday night and it seems that the update has fixed my problem. Both monitors are now as bright as each other.

Fingers crossed the update worked for me :D

Exactly the post I'm looking for

about to buy a mini on my end to replace/add-on to

    1) aTV 2 JB running Plex (720p only) and
    2) a Roku 2 XS (1080p but not stable enough)

99% of the time for playing bd ripped mkv movies using Plex. These devices are connected to a Sony DA5300ES receiver, handles all audio thrown at it, feeding a Sony 55HX929 TV via HDMI.

Rumors are saying that Apple is considering apps in future aTVs but it's not there yet.

    So, does 10.8.3 fixes it?

I bought a 2012 Mac mini a week ago and am using the included HDMI-to-DVI adapter with my external Samsung monitor. So far, I have't had any problems.

HDMI/Thunderbolt flicker problems AFTER 10.8.3 update

I bought my late 2012 mac mini in November. Until installing the recent Mountain Lion update, I had minimal problems (the occasional flicker) with my Samsung SyncMaster SA300 when connecting via HDMI. However, after I installed the update, I have had frequent flickering/losing sync connection and it has made working on my Mac highly frustrating. I have restored from a pre-update time machine restore point and it seems to have solved the problem. The problem only began with the update. I really hope that Apple can address this problem and put out a firmware fix or a new update. If you have a 2012 Mac Mini and have no display problems, I would advise against installing the 10.8.3 update.

I'm running a new Mac Mini got in last month, the i7 2.6ghz, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM, and the 1TB Fusion. I have it HDMI to my Sony Bravia 65" LED and have no problems. Display is crisp, no resolution or display problems whatsoever. I was concerned if nothing else resolution would be an issue, but couldn't be happier.

I am identical but with a 40" LCD Sony Bravia.

    No problems at all.

I run 10.8.3. It was also OK on 10.8.2.

Yes, I had a problem with the HDMI connection. The screen turned black for a few seconds once a hour. But apple released a software update and it never happened again since.

Late 2012 Mac Mini owner reporting in: The EFI update from January fixed my problems with HDMI. I had the periodically blanking out + grey noise problems, but they went away. :) I'm using 2 23" LG monitors connected via HDMI.

I'll jump in with a data point....I have the i7 2.3GHz it late Nov 2012 with 10.8.1 installed. From day one I used the included HDMI to DVI adapter for one monitor and mini-DP to DVI for 2nd monitor. I never experienced the HDMI "blank screen" issue - however I did see the "crushed whites". The firmware update came along (January?) and nothing changed - still never saw the blank screen, but crushed whites remained. I started using the little app "Gamma Control" to compensate for the whites. I installed 10.8.3 last weekend - still no blank screen issues and I no longer need Gamma Control for the crushed whites issue, 10.8.3 seems to have taken care of it.
