8gb ram
SSD

iMac 21.5 late-2012
2.9 i5 x4

iMac 200 in price difference

I want to use this for home audio, Logic Pro 9 and Reason 7 - is the 2.6 enough? i want to save as much as possible but want a decent computer.

i've been using a 2011 2.2ghz i7 quad mbp with 8gb ram, sdd, no problems. but i got married and it sort of became a family computer.

please help!

mini vs imac

For audio, the mini should work just fine, especially if it has an SSD boot drive. It should feel pretty fast. If you plan on processing stuff (video/audio/etc.) then you'd be better off getting the quad-core processor iMac.

Ideally, I'd buy a mini with standard drive and nice monitor and make it the 'family' Mac and keep the laptop for your audio recording.

benefit of the laptop is that it is mobile, where for music something stationary would work fine.
