Hi there I have been doing research on read and write speeds for the new 2018 Mac Mini. I have heard that there is a disparity in speed between smaller and larger drives. The smaller drives being slower. I have heard that the 1TB version may be the fastest?

But I can't find any info on how fast the 2TB option is? I am trying to decide between 1 and 2TB options.

Anyone know?

Yeah given the cost of the 2TB option it's not a shock. My own test limit read speeds at 2.8 GB/s, I suspect you will see very little above that topping out at that point because you're hitting PCIe and controller limits, not just the flash.

In short, the speed gains from 1 to 2 are probably negligible.

Also remember that the 128 and similar capacities don't have as quick writes but reads are fast across the board, over minimum over 2 GB/s for all capacities.

Thank you man! So you have the 2TB version? My only concern was that I feared that the 2TB version was slower than the 1TB version because that would have changed my decision. If the 2TB and 1TB are the same or 2TB is slightly faster thats just fine!

Nah, I only have the 512 version. But yes, you won't see any major performance gains.

Looks like that this is the deal in regards of writing speed.

128GB -> ~600MB/s
256GB -> ~1.3GB/s
512GB -> ~1.9GB/s
1TB -> ~2.6GB/s

Not sure about the 2TB I guess reach 3400

Yeh I did see this post on twitter I think. I would be happy if it was at least as fast as 1TB. I heard somewhere that maybe the 1TB is fastest but would love to see the 2TB confirmed. It is a lot of money, and if its slower, i'd rather go 1TB and external.
