Has anyone had an issue with their Mac Mini not displaying anything when using dual monitors? I got a second monitor yesterday and it was working fine but when booting up the Mac Mini today it wouldn't display on either monitor. It was on and working correctly because I could hear notifications coming in.

I unplugged the USB C - HDMI cable and plugged it back in which got it working on one monitor but unplugging/replugging in the regular HDMI cable did nothing. Pressing option in the display panel options to detect displays did nothing too. I got it working in the end by shutting down, turning it on, it displayed on the HDMI port panel this time, I unplugged/replugged the USB C HDMI and it showed on that one. However, I need to not be doing that every time as I just missed an important work call while trying to get this working.

Is this a common issue when using both the HDMI port and a USB C port for video out?

Thank you, it seems to be an issue with the HDMI port on my Mac Mini. I switched both cables to USB C-HDMI and it is working better than when I only had one monitor.
It’s not just your 2018 Mini. I gave up trying to use the HDMI port on my 2018 Mini. It was just too flaky. I’ve been running two monitors via the USB C ports with no issues for months now.

Wow, that sucks but it is actually a relief too. I didn’t want to deal with Apple fixing it so that gives me peace of mind. It’s been so much better since I switched to using the USB C ports and luckily I don’t use them often anyway so it isn’t an inconvenience. Thanks for the heads up.
