I received my new Mac mini last week and set it up with my 2 LG 34BK95U monitors. On initial boot up everything was good with both monitors recognized at a resolution of 3340 x 1440 (I think). I could not get the full 5120 x 2160 resolution, but it is too small for my old eyes anyway. I loaded some software and had to reboot the CPU --- Now the Mac mini will only recognize one of the monitors claiming it is an LG HDR 5K monitor, and I can set the full 5120 x 2160 resolution, but my old eyes are still not able to use it. Note both monitors are connected with Thunderbolt cables.

How do I convince the Mac mini to use both monitors at the lower ~4K resolution? I know it is possible since it did just that on initial set up; so it is just a software issue in the Mac mini OS that is gumming up the works.

I hope somebody has knowledge of a terminal variable or somewhat that I can set to get back the use of the two monitors.

Fishrrman's "another one of his dumb suggestions":

Try unplugging the USBc-to-monitor cables, and re-connecting them to different ports...

Glory be! This morning when I woke up my Mac mini, both monitors showed up and all is well. Note the System Preference --> Displays shows the two displays as LG HDR 5K (1) and LG HDR 5K (2). Both are set to a resolution of 3440 x 1440 which is fine for most work. I still have two steps to increase it if need be.

My concern, is that I do not know why it worked today, but did not yesterday after the cpu reboot. I'll report back if I find out anything else. In the mean time I think I'll just be happy it is working.
