I have my 2020 Mac Mini M1 (16GB RAM/2TB HDD) all set up and the only thing that seems to be an “issue” is that the SIL (Sleep Indicator Light) doesn’t pulsate or “breathe” when I put it to into sleep mode for the night. Is this the new look for the SIL on the 2020 Mini or is this feature not working properly? Thank you very much for your help.

Yeah, I read about that earlier today when I was looking for an answer but I found nothing about if the 2020 M1 Mac Mini was the same as the 2018 version with the SIL. I also saw the document from the link you provided but I believe it only referenced the 2018 with no mention of the 2020.

Yeah I wondered the same thing. Not sure why the LED remains ON when in sleep mode. Having it pulse would be best to differentiate the machine's various state (ON, OFF, sleep). At least give us the option.

So, you’re having the same issue? At least I’m glad it’s not just me. I always liked seeing the pulsating sleep mode light as it visually showed that the Mac was in sleep mode. Every Mac I’ve owned has done that except this new Mac Mini. Like you said, I would love having that option. Without an indication of it being in sleep mode, do you still just place the Mini into sleep or shut it down?

So, with the light staying on during sleep, do you just ignore it and put it in sleep mode anyway or do you shut it down completely for the night knowing that by doing so there’s no doubt the mini is asleep/off?

Well..... it behaves closer to an iPhone with the screen off. I’d say it doesn’t need to “sleep” anymore with such an efficient design.
