I've ordered one for in-store pickup in a tax free state. I think that the price of 1TB for $849 is excellent. Right now, that costs $999 when available or $899 for EDU discount. What will Tim do? For M5 Mini, I expect base to become 512GB but the price to increase by 100 bucks like the MBA. So base price is then $699 for M5 16/512 and probably $899 for the 16/1TB. But only $799 for M5 16/1TB for EDU. But M5 can't run Sequoia so I'm OK paying the extra 50 bucks tax for the refurb unit. I think now was the time to buy the M4 Mini to upgrade an M1 Mini.

Coming and going quickly it looks like.

The wild thing is that they had models on the refurb site that have 10-12 weeks / indefinite shipping delays on the main site. One could have probably resold those on Ebay for an immediate profit. If these shortages persist, it's really going to drive speculation / flipping...

Finally grabbed an M4 Max 16/40 with 64GB of memory and the 2TB SSD off the refurb store. Wondering if I should keep it…

Took me <24 hours post-delivery to flip it and make $1600.

I remember the Mini 2012 quad-core server craze back in 2014 where I flipped a refurb quad for about 500 bucks and used that to buy myself a dual core Mini 2012 refurb for free. I had forgotten I did that until you mentioned it.
