Hi all,

I have a mac mini A1347 with a new formatted HDD and i cant manage to install OS X.

I'm booting from CD (with press C or with option>Select external DVD) that the DVD blinks for 10-15 seconds but stops and i the installer dosent shows.

What am i doing wrong?

Please help!

Are you using the original restore disc which came with the Mini?

I am fairly certain that standard Snow Leopard install DVD won't work because it has earlier build of 10.6.3 which won't work with the Mini...

The only A1347 model that came with the SuperDrive was 2010. If it isn't the 2010, then it wouldn't have come with install DVD's which as the previous two posters have said, may be why it's not working. The 2010 originally came with Snow Leopard, but because the OP is using an external drive, it sounds like it's newer. Of course one could burn a disc, in which case it may be a bad disc.

The version of Snow Leopard that shipped with the 2010 mini is too new for the Snow Leopard commoercial installer. The only DVD that will work is the one that shipped when new.

OP can also try booting to Internet Recovery (Restart, holding Option-Command-R) and see what system is offered as a download. You will need a working internet connection to do that.
