Hi

After previous help and guidance on here I treated myself to a new I5 Mac mini from Apple
All setup and having never used a Mac desktop before I am enjoying learning but a little bemused

Thought was doing ok until it came to my Air Pods
I have an original pair and a Pro pair.

Neither work with my Mac mini. They work fine with iPhone and iPad Pro, but not with mini
I have momentarily got them to connect, when sat right up close to the mini, but as soon as move away they break up, stutter and stop.

I have reset Bluetooth, removed devices and factory reset them loads of times but nothing makes a difference

They either connect and don't work, or don't connect at all

Only other thing I have connected is an MX Master mouse (first gen) and that works fine

Any help / advice be received with gratitude

Thanks

Do you have any USB devices plugged in or other devices close by that could be causing interference? That is a common cause.

No, well just keyboard and that's it

Works fine from iPad and iPhone in same room / location

And if you switch off your phone/iPad and then try and connect to the Mini without anything other Apple device fighting for control of the pods?

Cheers - That was a good question and something that I should have looked at, thanks for prompt

Ok, did the following

Reset all Bluetooth on on Mac mini
Removed ALL Bluetooth devices on both iPhone and iPad Pro
Connected the new Air Pods Pro to both the iPhone and ipad
Played various sources on both and switched devices a handful of times
All worked

Then, switched them both off

With them both off I then went back to the Mac mini and connected the old Air Pods to this
They connected (on second attempt, maybe that was user error)
Play back was fine
Connection was fine
Able to walk around the house and still use them connected to the Mac mini

Turned iPhone and iPad back on and Mac mini still working with the old Air Pods

So, question is now, is it possible that I can somehow "lock" these settings so that my iPhone and iPad never bother even looking at the old Air Pods and the mini doesn't bother itself with the new Air Pods Pro ?

The intention was always to have the old ones left for the mini with the pros used on the go

One good thing is from this I have found "shortcuts" and can now get my Air pods to swap when opening various apps etc. so that's a bonus

It is always an issue of fiddling about with the sequence as you have done to make it work. Providing you don't pair either device to the one you don't want it to be used on it should be fine. I say should :)
