Hi! I recently bought a Mac mini (late 2012 edition), running OS X 10.8.
Everything was running smoothly (NTFS compatibility, ability to play media files, office suite etc etc) until I had to use the printer.
I have a Xerox Phaser 3160b. Several days before migrating to Mac OS I downloaded these drivers from the Xerox website, thinking there will no problems at all.
Today, I tried to print a page. A blank page was printed, with traces of ink on it. I could hear the drum spinning, meaning that it actually was working. I got worried that the printer might get broken, so I switched it off.
When trying to print using Windows 15 minutes later, there was no problem with the 3160b - worked like a charm.

To summarize - the printer is being recognized by the OS X, it does follow the Print command when clicking the Print button in Word, printing starts ... but the pages are blank with traces of the drum. I reckon it might need a specific software tweak I'm not aware of.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried running Software Update to see if there is a pending update for your model printer that you can install?

Yes, the system is up to date, nothing happens. I tried resetting the added printers and adding it again. Everything goes fine except printing - this time there are blank pages only, with no traces of ink.. And the toner is almost full..

    not unusual

It is not unusual for their to be problems with printer drivers for Mac from printer firms who put most of their energy into drivers for this Windows OS
or that one. Mac is an after thought. I have chronic problems with my Samsung Laser printer, having to unplug it and plug it in at least once a day.
They made my other printer useless when they refused to update the software.
Remember only ten percent of computer users are mac. Many printers and scanners like epson, offer only software that goes up to 10.6 or 10.7!
You just may need to buy a new printer but then we have Maverick coming out and I bet there will be few printer drivers that will work with 10.9!
    Its a never ending problem
