Hi,

I've recently bought a Mac Mini (2009) to use to play all my ripped DVD/TV series though.
I've ripped and converted them using mac the ripper and handbrake, using the AppleTV preset (assuming this was the correct one! and large file size)

When I come to play them back, through plex (or vlc/realplayer) the quality is really poor, certainly sub DVD quality.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? most of the file sizes are around 1gb, gutted at the moment because its taken me an age to rip and was hoping the mac mini would be the optimum solution! Help!

Its connecting to a LG 42" LCD via MiniDisplay port DVI to HDMI.

I cant test them on other TV, on my macbook they look fine buts its only a 13" screen!

Connect your MacBook to the TV and see if the quality looks the same. If it does, your file is the problem, if not, it's your Mini.
