Mac Mini as remote speakers?

I am thinking of setting up a few ATV's and my mac mini as remote speakers in a whole house audio setup. I guess I could control it all with a remote app on my phone.

Buy can you use iTunes to airplay music or video to a mac mini from an iOS device like an iPad or or iPhone?

From a windows using iTunes?

Just use an Airport Express. They have a digital/analog audio output in the back and you just hook them up to your WiFi network and setup Airplay. Way cheaper and easier.

you can also make any mac a valid airplay destination with the Airserver app.
