I have a PPC Mac Mini, and I am running Tiger off of an external hdd because it is much faster and has much more storage space.

Is there a way that I can disable the internal hdd? I would like to be able to shut it off and leave it shut off, until I re-enable it. So far, I have just been unmounting it every time I boot up.

I didn't know you could unmount an internal drive. That's pretty cool, especially if I ever boot from an external.
You can unmount any drive as long as it isn't in use and doesn't contain the OS you are currently booting from.

Is it possible to 'unmount' it in your Login items so it does it for you automatically? I used the same method to mount a network drive automatically... maybe it works both ways.
