I'm having a strange display issue with the 2018 Mac Mini. Not sure if this started happening after I updated to the latest OSX or not.

After waking from sleep the screen will sometimes go totally bright green - black mouse can be seen but nothing else. This seems to be happening regularly about once a week. Restarting the machine solved the problem.

I disabled the login screen yesterday, on waking the computer today I now get a more trippy looking green/purple image exactly like in this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-mini-hdmi-display-issues.1988034/ - again a restart seemed to solve this issue.

Mac Mini specs: 2018 i3/256gb/16gb
Monitor: LG 27uk650-w - connected to HDMI port with the HDMI cable supplied with monitor.

Any ideas?

Agggggh. I'm having the same green screen problem with my 2018 i5 Mini. Using a different monitor though, an LG 32UD59-B 32". It's happened to me since purchase.

Looks like communicating issue between the OS and the monitor about what color mode to use. The symptoms can be varied depending on in what color mode the OS sends data to the monitor. In this case, your monitor wants RGB.

You can force the OS to send only RGB to the monitor.

I think this thread is a good start.

Or you can Google using keywords like EDID, Force RGB, etc.
