I had to plug it in to my Windows computer for a sec to update formware on an HDPVR. I try to plug the monitor back in to my HD PVR and it doesn't detect the signal. My mac isn't trying to SEND a signal. I tried restarting, and I can't do "detect displays" because this isn't a notebook.

ConfusedB, it looks like you're having all kinds of problems with your monitor (or monitors?) on your computer (or computers?):

Monitor problems.
So, I had my Mac mini on the TV for a few weeks while I was at my Dad's. I got back to my Mom's where I live and have my desk, and my monitors aren't right. Although my primary monitor is now my secondary monitor, the resolutions aren't sorted. I had a VGA 20inch monitor that I used Thunderbolt to VGA with, and it used to be able to do 1600x900, but now, 1600x900 isn't even on the list, when I switch to "best for Display" It just goes to 800x600. And 1080p on the TV looks super blocky.

Having Problems with one of my monitors.
So, I had my mac mini on the tv in the living room for a few days, Had some friends over, we played some games, watched netflix, everything was good times. And now, on my Acer monitor, my Mac thinks it's a 4:3 monitor, when, just a few days ago, it was running perfect widescreen 1600x900. I use a minidisplay port to VGA. I reset the monitor, tried everything except updating to 10.8.4, which i'd prefer not to do.

All a little bit confused (and confusing). Why don't you start to un-confuse this by letting us know exactly what kind of equipment this is about and which OS X version you are using. You never know, you might get some answers ...

Late 2012 Mac mini and 10.8.4. The TV issue was fixed when I updated to 10.8.4, I probably just needed a restart.

This is confused, indeed. How did you plug your Mac mini into your Windows computer?

Hold down the Option key while you are in the Display preference pane.

I plugged the Monitor in to my Windows computer.
