Hello,

I'm running first back to external drive, (non powered lacie drive 1tb) shall i leave it to its own accord ? will the mac sleep when finished ?

its currently set to sleep after 15mins
power off HD's after 30mins
sleep display after 5mins

many thanks in advance

Those settings are WAY shorter than any I would ever use.
I never have my Mac mini set to go to sleep by itself. I put it to sleep manually, when I want to do it.

You could temporarily change your settings while you do something else that may be affected by your power/sleep settings, then change settings back when you feel like it.

I guess that doesn't address your two questions, so here are some answers: Maybe, and probably.
(note - "put hard drives to sleep when possible" settings don't generally control external drives)

Yes the computer will sleep when Time Machine finishes backing up. At least that is my experience.

thank you - woke up this morning and it had completed with the settings unchanged - thank you for reply
