What version of OS X are you running on your mini?

Are you using Safari, or some other browser, such as Firefox or Chrome?

Seems strange about being only amazon.com

What about other somewhat intense pages - like cnn.com, etc? Or, even Youtube.com?
Do you have any problems loading and running this speed test page?

One page with problems viewing from two very different web browsers?
You could try changing your DNS servers to one of the public ones, such as OpenDNS.
Here's a page that explains how to easily change your network settings: https://use.opendns.com/#mac
I suggest that when you save those settings, that you restart your Mac. That's not usually needed, but that will assure that your system loads those changes completely, just on the chance that is affecting your internet connection.

Oh wow, I was about to take a nap when I saw this post. I have been experiencing the exact same problem, running my Mac Mini 2009, 256GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, Yosemite. www.amazon.com, front page that big banner, it happened to me three times already. As soon as I get on that page, the banner (picture or some Ad) scrambles into these weird looking tiles (and only the banner is scrambled every time), looks like what your monitor would give you if your VGA/DVI cable was loose. Then the whole machine would freeze, it would then after a few second flash the whole screen then I would be able to move the mouse, it would then flash again and the mouse would be dead (whole machine freeze) and repeat. This happened to me a total of three times, the first time I had to do a hard restart, the second time I was able to struggle to get to activity monitor and kill safari, and the third time I had to do a hard restart again. I have not visited Amazon since.

At fist i suspect it was hardware problem giving that the machine is rather old, but I did a Apple hardware test which resulted in a clean bill of health, I then did a memtest with no problem either. The last thing I was thinking to do is to run a SSD test.

But I guess I'm not the only one that's experiencing this particular problem. I have not update or change any hardware/software configuration before all this happened. As I'm typing this I suspect this could be the work of ABP? That would be the biggest factor to have on the browser when access any website.

Ps. I have other browser installed, but I don't use them. I only run Safari.

I don't think this could possibly be a hardware issue, if the problem only occurs on a single web site.
Are you using a public DNS server, such as OpenDNS? Try it as a test.

How about location? OP is in Puerto Rico. What country are you in?

Thanks for the feedback guy. I did the AHT, then I did a internet boot and I ran disk utility a few time and it seems the problem just went away. Still don't know what this is all about but I'm glad my Mac Mini 2009 is still going strong. Although I'm hope this is not the first sign of aging (besides the slowly down that is).

Maybe you guys didn't do anything and Amazon fixed their page code due to a number of complaints?

It's possible, but since I can't reproduce the issue (I suppose that's a good thing), I can't for sure if that's the case. Although it is very weird that the problem just went away...

I am daily on Amazon, and the same problems started today (Aug 18). My Mac completely freezes when on Amazon HomePage (I suspect the carousel banner is the issue, as it changes into gibberish, and then all freezes). It happens with Safari and with FireFox. I have latest OS and latest browsers...

It might help to troubleshoot if people would give their Mac model, GPU, and OS X version

Reply #7, I think I have listed everything. Including all the behavior when this problem was occurring.

So after about 10 days the problem is back again. I casually went to Amazon's website, right away I saw the banner scrambled, with in seconds the computer was locked up. I want to say it's hardware but I have yet to be able to pinpoint down to any particular issues. I'm hoping is not the SSD, although I'm not even sure if a bad SSD would cause this. I want to blame Amazon, but at least same time if no body else is having this issue it's hard to reproduce it.

Update: Looks like we CAN blame Amazon. Found the exact same discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7163501
