Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Just upgraded from a 2009 Mac Mini to a new one. Using HDMI, the colors are washed out and off (greenish purplish) at the default 1360 x 1768. If I pick one of the other (like 720p) the colors are right but resolution is screwy. Any thoughts?

    And... Thank You.

Tell us the model of your Samsung HDTV. I have one too and had to rename "HDMI" to "PC" if I remember correctly.

    Thanks. I will explore that.

    It is a LNT3242.

    Of further interest:

I plugged the mac minin into the 720p Vizio from the bedroom and it works fine. Similarly, the AppleTV works fine on the Samsung.

I have a 2011 i5 mini hooked to my Samsung and the colors are fine.

Bad cable? Or a cheap cable? I never thought the hdmi cable mattered too much but the 5 dollar ones certainly have some issues.

It would have to be a particularly bad cable to create issues with HDMI. As in, "oops we filled this cable with string instead of a metal".

To the OP: your screen has a 720p resolution, you should choose that. It's fairly likely that there is a bug in the Samsung firmware that prevents other resolutions from working well. If there are problems with 720p then describe those more precisely and we'll be able to find a solution.
