    Hi,

I've just got a new 2011 Mini and plugged it into my Yamaha AV Amp, turned it on and no video signal to my TV (sound was working). Discovered the following in my testing:

    - Mini --> Directly to TV would automatically output a video signal fine. It would default to 1080p60

    - Mini --> AMP --> TV would not output any video signal

I was able to remote connect to the mini and test it when connected to the AMP and discovered the following:

    - Mini --> Amp --> TV would output a signal if I changed the output to 1080i

    - Mini --> Amp --> TV would output a signal at 1080p but only at 24hz

At the moment I'm left with it running on 24hz which is the only way I can get a signal outputted through my amp. Odd that it works at 60 when connected directly. I understand that 24 is the better setting for films anyway, but will I run into any problems with these settings?

Your receiver is the problem. I've seen other people report similar problems with A/V receivers.

I agree it's the receiver that is the issue. I have an Onkyo TX-SR707 surround sound receiver. My Mini is connected to it using an HDMI cable. The Onkyo is then connected to the TV using another HDMI cable. I get 1080p with 50,60 and 24 Hz.

Some people can notice the difference between the three and others can't. I can't notice the difference. If you can't then I wouldn't worry about it.

I've had a previous HTPC running through my receiver so I know it can transmit 1080p24/50/60 perfectly fine. It's also a new model receiver (from 2010) so 1080p was firmly established then.

Seems odd that it would be at fault when the new component I've introduced is replace an old HTPC with the mini.

    meduk1,

Have you been able to figure out your problems?

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I just bought a 2011 mac mini, to set up with my Yamaha HTR-5063 like so:

    Mini-(hdmi)-HTR-5063-(hdmi->dvi)-Dell monitor

I get no video and no audio from the mini. When the mini is hooked up directly to the monitor everything works perfectly fine. I also have a Dell Zune HTPC, and when I hook that up instead of the mini as above, everything works flawlessly too.

My plan B, of course, is to plug in the monitor directly into the mini, and route the sound through the receiver via the tos, but my preference is to go the simpler HDMI route.

Let me know if you or others have had the same issues and were able to iron it out.

Same problem here. I noticed I have a firmware update on the receiver, so I'm going to try that. Right now Ive got the mini going hdmi to the tv direct, the tv back to the receiver through ARC.
