Mac Mini help!!

yesterday, as i switched my mac mini on it flashed a folder with a question mark, was just wondering how i can fix it. ive put my install disc in to try and repair it but when i hold c, nothng happens. was wondering if there is another solution.

Press the option key too, will enable you to select a boot device.

Run disk utility, verify the disk or run apple diagnostics to confirm the hdd has a problem.
