A friend has just bought a Mac Mini (server I think), to use as a HTPC. He has asked me how he goes about streaming content to multiple tvs. I haven't a clue. I just have my ATV. :)

Is this possible for him to do this? If so, how would he go about it?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

It really depends on what he wants to do at each TV. If he wants to show the same thing at each TV, then all he'd need to do is split the AV output from the mini and run lines to each TV. Something tells me that this is not the case.

So, I'm guessing that your buddy wants to use the mini as a repository for media that serves files to a device located at each TV. There's many ways to do this as well, and each has their own pros/cons. What's right for your buddy will depend on what types of media files he has.

1. Put AppleTVs at each location and sync/stream with the mini.

2. Buy a media extender (i.e. WDTV HD Live) and access the files on the mini.

3. Buy an XBox360 or PS3 and stream media from the mini to the game console.

4. Wait until 9/1 and see what the new, rumored AppleTV (or iTV) is all about.
