Anyone here using Mac Mini with the iPad as the only display via the the luna display adapter for day to day task? I am wondering how feasible is this for extended period of time. I need a portable machine around my home and is exploring this setup instead of getting a Macbook. So far, I have only seen reviewers using this setup for a short period of time.

Look at your apps. Will they run on an iPad when you are mobile? If not then get a MacBook, if so then just stick with the iPad. Mixing a mini with an iPad just seems like an expensive and clunky way of doing things.

Thanks for the input. I do not need to use the Mac OS outside my house so I am considering this option. I already have a few iPads at home.. Ipad Gen 4, Gen 6 and a iPad mini.

Out of curiosity which Apps are you needing a Mac for rather than an iPad?

The mini seems a bit limited as the low end, and quickly gets expensive. iPad Pro might be better for you if you are just needing something faster. If you are needing a mouse/touchpad then a Mac for at home would be better.

Xcode and Android Studio. I do have an iMac at my office which I do most of my work but sometimes I will need to work at home. I used to have a Macbook Air but it broke down few months ago. I can probably get a Macbook Pro 2017 nTB but I hate the idea that the butterfly keyboard might break down after few months of usage.

I'm with you on the MBP keyboard. With that and the absolute age it took Apple to produce a laptop with more than 16GB RAM, I moved over to a thinkpad. Windows isn't as nice as Mac OS, but the hardware is great.

For your use go for the Min and put on a good keyboard. The Luna thing is cheap, but I'd rather spend the money on a good 27" monitor, at which point you may want to consider an iMac. Choices eh? :)

Unfortunately I do not have much of a desk space at home so an external monitor or iMac is definitely out for me.
