Hi,

I've got a late 2012 mac mini 6,2 which uses the HDMI port to run an HP monitor, and has done so for several years.

I'm running the mac a bit harder than I used to, but not so much that it's complaining. However, it is suddenly and persistently dropping signal, with the HP monitor saying nothing is connected.

After the 3rd time I've noticed that the HDMI (to DVI-D) cable is very hot at the HDMI end - could this be the issue?

I've bought another cable to try out but if it is a heat thing then obviously that won't help (much).

Can anyone confirm for me that it is a heat thing?

Specs are:

6,2 intel core i7 2.6GHz
16gb 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
10.9.5
Fusion Drive

Thanks very much

I would try replacing the cable and adapter as heat over time can cause cables and adapters to degrade.

Seems to have done the trick, plus I've given the mini a riser and pointed a fan in its general direction plus changed the cable - it seems cooler and I'm yet to get a dropout...

Thanks!
