When do you think the Mac mini m1 deals will start and what do you predict the prices to be? The m2 is great and with the price reduction it really is going to devalue the m1's, which is great for me because we dont need all that power in the office.

I have the same question as the OP, where/when are the deals on M1 Mac mini’s….

And, Apple does not have them available at all, not on clearance, no refurbs, nothing, …at least not yet

Refurbs from Apple are almost always 15% off the original price, even after a Mac has been discontinued. In 2019, after the 2014 Mini had been discontinued, Apple was still selling one of the higher-spec (2.8ghz/8gb/fusion) models for about $1000 in the refurb store. I got the exact same machine new-in-box from B&H Photo for $500.

So, I'd be surprised if you find any "deals" from Apple but anything is possible. I would keep an eye on the big retailers, such as B&H Photo and see what they have. Costco might be another possibility.

I'm looking for M1 deals as well. Will be interesting what the used market prices will be once the M2 are readily available. I was watching a local CL listing prior to the M2 release. M1 , 512gb ssd , 16gb memory for $750. Decent price prior, but not anymore.

There were M1 refurbs available over the weekend, but they were all gone by Tuesday - whether they were all sold, or simply removed from sale, is unknown. I was looking for a replacement for an i3 2018 mini that is mostly acting as a space heater under my TV, and was hoping that the price drop on the M2 would bring M1 refurbs down a bit more, but it's unclear exactly what Apple will do with pricing on those in the future. They certainly won't make sense at the customary 15% discount, since that would be more than a comparable M2. I think the base M1 refurbs were 20% off when I saw them over the weekend, but that still isn't cheap enough compared to the base M2 config.

I don't think it will be much lower than now. MM M2 is not such big an upgrade after all, slightly faster yes, but same amount of memory, storage, same ports.

At the end of December, I bought a base M1 Mini for $560 + tax at Costco. (Edit: I just got back from Costco and they lowered the price of the base model to $500 + tax).

In the Apple Education Store, the base M2 Mini is $500 but I don't know if the new model only has 1 NAND chip so an upgrade may be required for an Apples to Apples comparison.

Dang, I’m thinking of replacing my 2013 iMac with a Mac mini, on a small budget, so trying to decide between M1 base Costco or Apple refurb or spend more for M2 base model.

I'm only using my M1 Mini for streaming videos in my living room. My M1 Air is also 256GB and it's enough for my personal needs. If you're using one computer to do multiple things: personal, coding, etc., then I would either use an external drive for data or get 512GB. Before you buy anything, have a look at how much storage space you're actually using now because I've purchased a 1TB MBP in the past and I have yet to even reach 512GB. Not only that but it's an Intel Mac so it'll be useless soon - money wasted! Don't get pressured into buying something that you will not need because you want to future proof, is what I'm trying to say.

IMO, it's much more cost effective to buy 256 model and add a 1TB M2 SSD (maybe used) in a 3.1 gen 2 enclosure, it would cost you under 100USD.
yeah, I think I'm going to get the new base model, it's been too long since I've had a newly released Mac, with the setup I have now I'm not even getting security updates for safari. AI has a discount code with Adorama, but, they say PayPal is a payment option, until you get to checkout and it isn't there?

Costco has the 8/256 for $499 and the 8/512 for $619 (and remember Costco adds a second year of warranty).
Was hoping for a bit more discount on the 8/256 as it is only $80 cheaper than the 8/256 M2 and probably/may within a few months the M2 will go on sale for about the same.

I had a external drive running Monterey to a MacBook Pro (Mojave is the base OSx)
and that was a hinderance with the chord.
but on. stationary MacMini, this concept is a great Money saver without slowing down one's computing tasks.

Yeah, AI has discount code with Adorama, $100 off the M2 mini, making it $500, so, going for that, but having trouble with the site saying paypal is a payment option, but it’s not available in checkout.

Costco has the M2 at $580 and to add 3yr applecare+ is $80 (instead of $99), …I’m not sure how that works with Costco’s 2nd year warranty if it’s a total of 4 yrs or what

If you have a Citi Card, 1/22/23 is the last day they also double the warranty. So you get 4 years of warranty with that, so less of a need to get AppleCare. Shame they are discontinuing that benefit.

If the M2 base only has 1 NAND chip you should get the M1 base instead. Wait for reviews to come out - the professional reviewers/influencers will post videos soon.

I’d definitely go for an m1 mini over the new ones

Apple hit the ground running with it and in many ways shot itself in the foot as it’s ridiculous vfm ,just an incredible piece of kit

One of the best macs of all time imo .
