I got a new M1 Mac mini 8GB RAM and 1TB SSD. I am evaluating it against my Mac Pro 2013 32GB RAM 1TB SSD.
I am finding the mouse cursor has strange and weird behavior in the sense that it will often lag behind, and suddenly jump a large distance. This happens sporadically and unpredictably, throughout my work day. I am finding it disturbing. The Mac mini is only 30 to 40cm away from the mouse. Initially I thought it might be my Satechi USB stand and hub is limiting the Bluetooth reception, so I removed it, but there was no change.
I have two sets of Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard - I have tried both with the M1 mini, and both behave the same.

Other than relating this to poor Bluetooth performance of the M1 Mac mini, what else can I try?
- I already disconnected and connected both magic mice numerous times.
- Tried increasing the distance from Mac mini to the mouse - it only got worse.
- Turning off the mouse briefly seems to cure the issue momentarily, but starts again in a little while.

What is everyones experience with M1 Mac mini and Magic Mouse 2? I move the mouse a lot during my work day, use gestures to switch between full screens, etc... Not only scrolling and clicking... Please help, or else I will throw the Mac mini back to where it came from...

Edit: I should also say that both my two sets of magic mouse/keyboard behave nicely with my Mac Pro 2013 and Mac mini 2014. But not with the M1 mini.

Between the mouse/keyboard area and the Mac Mini M1, do you rest your mobile, too?
Merely for testing, move you mobile to the other side of the desk, and see what happens. There might be a bluetooth connection issue happening. Hence, my suggestion.

Lastly, is the Mac Mini M1 laying flat? Another test, place it on it's side, and see what happens. Mine sits in a Jarlink desk stand.

Try a wired mouse.
Or... try a Logitech wireless mouse that uses its own radio band along with the "unifying receiver"...

Actually, it kind of stabilized. I was using also my IPP 12.9 in sidecar mode over wireless. We shall see how it goes in the future.

My mobile was not between the mouse and the computer, but was pretty close on the desk.

My monitor is Dell 4K UltraSharp P2715Q.

I will not try a wired mouse because I don't have one.

I just got an M1 Mini and have noticed the lagging mouse pointer with every mouse I've tried, both Bluetooth and USB receiver. Between this, display issues with many monitors, and a few other things, my experience has not been very positive and I might return the Mini.

My Magic Mouse 2 has been doing this on my 8gb M1 Mac mini too, it's annoying when I'm trying to use Affinity Photo or Designer and I keep having to undo stuff because the curser will suddenly jump to another point and mess up what I was doing!
It also takes so much effort sometimes to move the curser across the screen due to the slowness and lagging.

Is this an issue with all M1 devices or just the minis?
Since no one replied, i just bought a 14 Macbook Pro (M1 Pro) and the issue persists with my Trackpad 2 and sometimes my keyboard also freaks out. Im still within my return window and im getting a little annoyed coming from a Windows 11 machines (Gaming desktop i built). Seems a lot of little things are sorta wonky this being the primary annoyance.

I recently bought Magic Trackpad 3 and the lag and stuttering is truly annoying. I have no problem with my Magic Keyboard 2 and my old Magic Mouse 1. I don't understand where's the issue. All my other bluetooth devices works well too.

Same here. I'm using old magic keyboard and Magic Mouse without an issue on my Mac mini m1. But this new Magic Trackpad 3 really annoys me. And I'm still within my return window. Usually it is not taking my first input like scrolling, zooming etc.

I have a Logitech Unifying mouse but you need to be a bit careful with the USB placement of the receiver.
I'm probably a case example with around 20 external devices are plugged into my Mini. There is indeed USB interference which can really mess with the cursor at times, particularly when certain devices are running.

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a Logitech G915 TKL ($200 “gaming” KB) that does this on windows and macOS. My mouse also made by Logitech G905 does the same. I ended up having to reduce my 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi power output to mitigate it a while back. We just ran out of spectrum in the US if you ask me.

Interesting about the Wifi. I cannot change the wifi power or frequency on my router so I guess I'll just have to get an extension cable and hide the receiver behind my keyboard or something.

Hey guys. So I recently got a m1 Mac mini and faced mouse lag especially while scrolling the page using the scroll wheel. I am using a Logitech M710 mouse connected using the unified receiver. What I have observed after trying various mice is if you have an old wired gaming keyboard connected, that could cause the issue. I started using bluetooth or wireless keyboard that helped the situation a lot. Then one day I downloaded Microsoft Edge for M1 and Google chrome and voila!! no lag whatsoever. The Lag is only on Safari browser. Please try it and let me know.

This has been an issue with Mac minis 2018 on forward. I have a 2018 and refuse to have anything wireless on it short of Airdrop. My keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2 are both plugged into USB. I will not upgrade until this issue is resolved or my 2018 gets too far behind in ability to upgrade or speed. It's a ridiculous problem.
