My Mac Mini M1 has a schedule for sleep and wake.

However, sometimes am using it past it’s sleep time. So, when am finished I’ll select the Apple icon and click Sleep.

As am walking away, within 10-20 seconds, I’ll see the monitor come on and the Mac Mini M1 is awake.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, after all this time, this issue is still an issue.
Again, I will place my Mac Mini M1 into sleep mode, manually, within 10-20 seconds, it will be awake and unlocked. I probably wouldn't be too fussed if it was at least locked.

Suggestions...

If you turn off Bluetooth before putting it to sleep, does it still wake

Hmm, not sure that is a viable option, since with the Mac Mini I connect via Bluetooth with the Magic Mouse and Keyboard...
I only suggest it as a diagnostic measure. You can wake it by pressing the power button
