hello ppl...a new mac user and i m planning to get the mac mini 2011 version (used for a steal price..hehe)..and it has only the stock 2 GB and running the 10.9 mavericks..

    my doubts are

1.can i use the stock 2 GB + 8 Gb ram totalling to 10 GB ram.

2.can anybody recommend good ram options.

3.can we use a 1600mhz ram in one slot and 1333mhz in another slot.

4.wll any 204 pin ram work up to 1600mhz.

    Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 16GB

Forget trying the 10 GB option.

    Been using the Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model 997020 in my 2011 mini for 18 months with no issues.

10 GB will work, but I would recommend using matching sets of RAM. Ordering an 8GB kit (2x4) would probably be the best option if you don't want to spend the money on 2x8GB sticks.

Thanks, but I went the safe route and ordered the recommended Crucial RAM from Amazon Warehouse for $56.

Great decision... getting the dual 2 x 4GB (8GB) kit of Crucial RAM is an excellent choice. I ordered the 2 x 8GB (16GB) kit direct from Crucial after I bought my mid-2011 Mini and I have had no regrets since and haven't looked back.
