Mac mini mid 2010 HDD Replacement

I'm looking to put an SSD into my 2010 mini. I have noticed the drive I took out of it shows a height of 9.5 mm. Many of the SSDs (the one I've already ordered) shows a height of 7 mm. I see that OWC has an "adapter" thing - sort of like a gasket to increase the 7 mm height to 9.5 mm.

Is this necessary? Has everyone just put the 7 mm height SSDs into their 2010 mini without worrying about the height?

As in the 2011/12 mini, the drive in the 2010 is fixated with 2 side plugs and 2 screws through the antenna plate into the underside of the drive. Thus mounting is no problem, even with a lower height drive - gasket not required.
