I have a new Mac Mini and occasionally (once every couple of hours) a static pop comes through the speakers. These are Logitech Z-2300s that worked fine without this issue on a Windows PC a couple days prior. Anyone else getting any strange audio issues?

When does it happen. Is it while you are using the computer, it's sitting idle and you start to use again or what.

Pretty much whenever. While watching a movie, while working away in Fireworks and while idle with both monitors in standby. Seems sorta random. It seems like a similar issue that was widely reported with Macbook pros a while back

This also occurs with highend audio systems often annoying to audiophiles. First, make sure the Mac Mini is conected to a grounded outlet, preferably via a protected power surge unit. Grounded outlet testing can be verified with a $2 tester from any hardware store.

Secondly, make sure no other appliances are connected to the same outlet or circuit as the Mac Mini. Switching other electrical units on or off which are on the same circuit can cause audible electrical interference. The Mini's connection should be isolated from any non computer-related appliance or electical gear on the same line.

I'm not saying this'll fix the problem, but at least eliminate sources that could cause this.

It was plugged into a pretty crappy surge protector but I've now moved it into the back of my uber SmartUPS 1500. I'll see if that solves the problem
