I use a Mac Mini with two dell monitors. Not sure on the model number, but I never notice any mouse lag.

As for the speakers, mine is hooked to a set of numark speakers and they work great.

The webcam... not sure, but IMO all third party webcams suck, but I haven't used one in a long time

IMO, if you already have the peripherals, I would get the upgraded mac mini and throw 16 gigs of ram in it yourself. But this is just my opinion

that was the idea but apparantly there are threads about the dell u2713h telling it doesn't respond when the mini (it was a macPro) was engaged. So I'm getting a bit scared...

From the linked page it sounds like the 21 inch model is capable of replacement, the 27 is not. That being said, it sounds like based on user comments, both are kind of a rough task

The truth is, Apple designed for user RAM replacement on the 27", but not on the 21". To give a maintenance analogy, replacing RAM on a 27" is like changing out the air filter in your car. Replacing the RAM on a 21" is like changing out the transmission in your car. Both can be done, but . . .

To the OP:
You do realize the Mini is in that uncomforable "should have been updated, may be updated any minute" zone, and has been for months? Many would tell you to wait if you're looking to buy a Mini (prevent buyers remorse when a far superior model shows up at similar prices) or buy now if you need (your fine machine will still be fine, even if superior tech exists). Your call. I'm waiting to see what pops up.
